Tough
night at Brighton for Mahoney Racing
For a change the weather was nice and the forecast was
clear as the 2009 Southern Ontario Sprint tour headed
to Brighton Speedway for the second time in the young
season.
As Mahoney Racing
unloaded their cars they knew it could be a long
evening ahead as neither team had crew members
available due to other commitments. Little did they
know what a long evening it would be for them. The #25
started the evening off with a 5th place finish in his
8 lap qualifier.
In the 20 lap main
event things got wild off the drop of the green flag.
The #42w of Rick Wilson spun in corner two causing a
multi-car pileup. Involved with Wilson were Jamie
Collard and both Warren and Dick Mahoney. The #25
found itself on its side bringing out a red flag.
Warren however would go on to make repairs in the pits
while Dick was forced out of the event for the night.
The 'Wiley One' returned to the track to salvage a
10th place finish. Warren dropped from 2nd to 5th in
the SOS standings after three rounds of racing.
Warren and the #25 team will continue their 2009
campaign as the Southern Ontario Sprints head to
Brighton Speedway on Saturday July 11th for Round #4.
Race time in Brighton, Ontario is 7pm.
