Back
and forth night for Mahoney at Brighton
The Southern
Ontario Sprints returned to the Brighton Speedway for
their fourth visit of 2009 on Aug 8th. After rain
claimed the win at Ohsweken on July 17th the SOS
headed back to Brighton with Warren Mahoney sitting
third in points.
The
evening started off smoothly for the #25 with a fourth
place finish in the 8 lap qualifier. The team would be
busy though after fellow competitor Bob Crawford had
problems in his heat. Bob would need to rush and
prepare Warren's back up ride in time for the feature.
In the 20 lap main event started with
Mahoney in the 8th position. On lap 8 however April
Wilson clipped an infield tractor tire and collected
Warren. The 'Wiley One' was able to restart from the
rear and worked his way back to 7th. Rick Wilson went
on to win the race.
Warren and the #25 team will continue
their 2009 campaign as the Southern Ontario Sprints
head to South Buxton Raceway on Saturday August 22nd
for Round #6. Race time in Merlin, Ontario is 7:00pm.
