Wiley One in title
chase with 2 races remaining
With the 2009 Southern Ontario Sprints season drawing
to a close the teams headed to South Buxton Raceway
for their final stop of the year at the D-shaped oval
near Chatham, Ontario.
Warren Mahoney came into the event just
41 markers back of series leader Justin Martin. By
nights end the #25 would find themselves even closer
to grabbing its third championship. In the 8 lap heat
Mahoney capitalized on Martin's last lap problems and
gained valuable points by finishing second to heat
winner Dain Naida.
The Wiley One drew the pole for the 20
lap main event. He drove a smart race which included
several laps of close competition with friend Adam
West. The #25 finished 5th and closed the gap between
to just 30 points with two races remaining. With a 4th
West took over the point lead from Martin. Dain Naida
won the event.
The SOS ends the season at the Labour Day
Classic Saturday September 5th and Sunday September
6th at Brighton Speedway in Brighton, Ontario.
