For Warren Mahoney it has
been a competitive and strong year coming off of a championship season.
The only problem is that the SOS point standings wouldn't reflect that.
Warren and the #25 team headed into the June 23rd event at South Buxton
10th in the overall standings but his level of competitiveness would
suggest he should be competing for the top spot.
In the last SOS event at
Brighton Warren was up front all race long and was a serious threat to win
the until a late race miscue off of corner two sent him for a wild ride.
At South Buxton though his fortunes finally changed and he was rewarded
with a great night from start to finish.
In heat race three Warren
went out with some tough company to battle with. April Wilson grabbed a
popular first career heat win while Warren's father Dick finished second.
Warren wound up fourth which was his worst heat finish of the season. A
sign of a strong season has been his competitiveness in the qualifying
heats.
Come feature time Warren ran
in the top five for most of the night. He came from his 6th starting spot
and ran with the leaders right to the end. When all was said and done the
#25 team finished the night in third behind race winner Rick Wilson and
second place Kyle Patrick.
Warren and the Clintar
Ground Services team return to action on Saturday July 7th at the Brighton
Speedway. For more information log on to http://www.southernontariosprints.com
