| After
the sixth of fifteen races on the 2006 Southern
Ontario Sprints Tour Warren Mahoney finds himself in a
solid position to contend for his second career series
championship.
On Saturday July 8th
the team headed to the Brighton Speedway for stop
number six of the tour. Warren was not a contender for
much of the night but ran smooth and steady. He
finished 5th in his heat and ran a smart feature race
that was marred with numerous cautions. With second
place point man Bob Crawford dropping out Mahoney
cruised to a seventh place finish and moved into the
runner up position in the standings. Warren now trails
leader Glenn Styres by just 31 points.
The big story on the
night was when father Dick Mahoney took a violent flip
down the backstetch on the first lap of the A-Main.
Dick was okay but the car sustained heavy damage from
the wild crash.
The #25 team will
return to action on Saturday July 15th at the South
Buxton Raceway for round number seven of the 2006
Southern Ontario Sprints tour. |
