The Southern Ontario Sprints
made their second of three stops at the South Buxton Raceway on Saturday
July 14th. For Warren Mahoney and the #25 team it was another chance to
have a strong night and make ground on point leader Rick Wilson who was
not in attendance.
The night started off great
for both of the Clintar Groundskeeping Services cars. Warren's father Dick
won qualifying heat number two over Kyle Patrick and Keith Dempster.
Warren followed that up with a win in heat three over Kevin Job and Glenn
Styres.
In the 20 lap A-main Warren
would start mid-pack in the eighth position but moved to the front very
quickly. In the opening stages of the race he would pilot the #25 all the
way to second place. A miscue however in the very tricky South Buxton turn
four sent Mahoney spinning thus bringing out the caution flag. Warren
would restart at the tail and would manage to climb back as far as ninth
when all was said and done. It was a disappointing finish to what look to
be a chance at victory. However the top ten finish helped move Warren to
sixth in the overall SOS standings just 91 point behind new leader Glenn
Styres.
Warren and the Clintar
Groundskeeping Services team return to action on Saturday August 4th at the
South Buxton Raceway. For more information log on to http://www.southernontariosprints.com
