Mahoney and the #25 team continue to work their way
closer to the top spot of the 2006 Southern Ontario
Sprints Point Standings. The team made the haul to the
South Buxton Raceway near Chatham, Ontario on Saturday
night.
Warren was quick off
the truck and flexed muscle throughout the evening. In
his 8 lap qualifying heat the #25 came home with a
second place finish behind Bob Crawford. The finish
meant a spot in the evenings 5 lap Dash for Cash. The
decision to run the dash was probably reconsidered
after the fact by Warren though as the #25 took a hard
bounce off the fourth corner wall during the shootout
race. A broken shock mount bolt led to the team
scurrying to get ready for the A-Main. After looking
the car over and making sure everything was straight
and ready to roll the team headed out for the 20 lap
feature event.
Warren ran up front
for the entire race and put on a great battle with
fellow point chaser Bob Crawford for the third
position. When all was said and done Mahoney
took third over the third place point man Crawford.
Point leader Glenn Styres lost ground to Mahoney after
a seventh place finish. John Riegling won the A-Main
infront of his hometown crowd over rookie Bob
MacDonald.
The #25 team will
return to action on Friday July 28th at the Ohsweken
Speedway for round number eight of the 2006 Southern
Ontario Sprints tour. |
