After rain
washed away the 20 lap feature at Brighton Speedway on
Saturday July 12th on Clintar Groundskeeping night the
Southern Ontario Sprints headed to the Ohsweken Speedway
for their only stop at the Big O in 2008.
From the drop of the first green flag the 'Wiley One'
was quick and looked to be a contender. In the 8 lap
qualifying heat Warren would start fourth and finish
third.
By the time the 20 lap A-Main got underway the #25 team
was ready to get after it. Starting eighth Mahoney
patiently worked his way through traffic and was smooth
all night. When the checkers waved a solid night worked
paid off in the form of a third place finish behind race
winner Kevin Job and runner up Keith Dempster. Point
leader Glenn Styres struggled early but worked himself
back to a top five finish. Because of this Mahoney was
able to gain a total of 8 points on the evening moving
him to second overall and just 14 markers back of Styres
with just 4 races to go.
Warren Mahoney and the rest of the Southern Ontario
Sprints will be back on the road on Saturday August 2nd at the
South Buxton Raceway. For more information visit www.southernontariosprints.com. |
