| The
double header weekend for the Southern Ontario Sprints
seemingly was going to be yet another great weekend
for Warren Mahoney and the #25 team. Things
started off solid for Mahoney but would end up with
another bent up race car by the time all was said and
done.
On Friday night
Warren was quick on the dry and slick surface.
He finished second in his qualifying heat to eventual
A-Main winner Chuck Hebing. The Clintar Ground
Services #25 was strong throughout the 21 lap A-Main.
Finding a quick lane Warren was able to pilot his way
through the traffic to a fourth place finish.
Hebing grabbed the checkers while Fred Cade and Bob
Crawford would finish second and third respectively.
The SOS 10th
Anniversary Season tour continued on Saturday night at
the South Buxton Raceway. Mahoney was looking
forward to returning to the D-shaped track after a
second place finish there in the feature back on June
18th. Once again things looked good for Mahoney
as he came home second in his heat to Daryl Turford.
A fourth later on in the SOS Dash for Cash had the #25
team expecting another top finish in the 21 lap
feature. However, on lap twelve a red flag would
fly after both Warren and Tom Huppunen tangled and
flipped over. Neither were injured but the
Clintar Ground Services ride was heavily damaged.
Mahoney would end the night with a dissappointing 20th
place finish. On a good note Warren was able to
climb to 6th place in the 2005 series points chase
just 11 points outside of the top five.
Up next for Warren
Mahoney and the SOS is race number 12 of 16 on the
2005 tour at the Brighton Speedway on Saturday July
30th.
