The Southern Ontario Sprints
took to the track for two events over the weekend. On Friday night they
headed to the newly renovated Ohsweken Speedway and put on a fantastic
show. They then traveled to the Brighton Speedway to race before yet
another capacity crowd.
Warren Mahoney struggled in
his heat race Friday night at Ohsweken and just barely made the A-main
with his fifth place finish in the 8 lap qualifier. By feature time
however the 'Wiley One' was hooked up and part of the six car race for the
win. When all was said and done it was Keith Dempster back in victory lane
for the first time since May of 2004 while Warren would finish a solid
third.
Heading into Brighton Warren
was unofficially second in the overall point standings behind Glenn
Styres. The car was decent all night but could never challenge for the
lead. Warren would finish third in his heat and eighth in the feature. He
did manage to stay one spot ahead of Styres though and closed the gap to
57 points with just three races remaining.
Warren and the Clintar
Groundskeeping Services team return to action on Saturday September 1st
and Sunday September 2nd at Brighton Speedway for the SOS Labour Day
Classic Weekend. For more information log on to http://www.southernontariosprints.com
