Mahoney entered the Saturday August 26th race at South Buxton just looking
for a good finish and to come out of the night still holding on to the SOS
point lead.
The night started off rocky for the #25 team as a flat right front tire
put them last in their qualifying heat sending them to the B-Main. Warren
managed to work his way into a transfer position in the B and started near
the tail for the 20 lap A-Main.
The feature event was filled with accidents and roll overs but Mahoney
was patient and steady throughout the race. When all was said and done the
#25 finished 6th and won the Kenetic Photos Hard Charger Award for his
efforts. The strong finish helped him increase his point lead over Bob
Crawford with just three races to go in the 2006 season.
The night was extra special for the Mahoney family as Warren's father
Dick found victory lane for the first time in several seasons.
Family friend and racing legend Jack Hewitt just happened to be on hand as
an honourary Mahoney crew member for the memorable night.
After a rainout at the Brighton Speedway
during Labour Day weekend it leaves just one race to settle the 2006
title. Warren Mahoney looks to capture his second career championship on
Friday September 8th at the Ohsweken Speedway in the SOS Championship
Invitational.
